Game Development with Unity 3D

Start your journey in game development. You will support our team in creating motivating rehabilitation games while learning professional development workflows in Unity. This is a hands-on learning role where you will grow your skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the development of simple game mechanics and logic.
  • Implementing game assets (3D models, sounds, UI) into the Unity engine.
  • Testing games to find bugs and suggesting improvements.
  • Collaborating with senior developers to learn clean coding practices (C#).

Support a research-collaboration to determine which sport causes which injuries. For that, glove data is recorded during different types of sport. The recorded data needs processing and analyzing.

Master Thesis / 5 Month Internship - AI Sensor Fusion & Motion Tracking (Kinematics / Robotics)

We’re developing an AI-driven motion tracking system for a humanoid hand with IMU-sensor-based data. This role involves researching and implementing sensor fusion algorithms, blending kinematics, numerical optimization, and machine learning to track movements with high precision. If you love VR, biomechanics, or robotics, this role is for you! This is a collaboration with the RWTH Institute of Mechanism Theory, Machine Dynamics and Robotics. RWTH announcement (pdf): DE | EN.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a sensor fusion algorithm to process rotation data from a multi-sensor glove / robotic hand.
  • Use forward kinematics to reconstruct hand motion.
  • Apply numerical optimization to integrate IMU acceleration data, reducing drift and improving accuracy.
  • Experiment with neural networks to learn kinematic corrections from the baseline that is provided by IGMR's camera-tracking system.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python or C++.
  • Knowledge of linear algebra and numerics.
  • Ability to identify and communicate technical challenges.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Background in sensor fusion, kinematics, and/or machine learning.
  • Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Eigen is a plus.
